ABOUT US

SARAH MIDDLETON, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Kansas City, MO and have been practicing since 2017.

I have trained as a child and family therapist working with trauma and acute crisis situations. I now offer Telehealth services for youth and adults throughout the state of Missouri. Currently, I am primarily accepting new clients who identify as neurodivergent, queer or somewhere adjacent to those communities.
I am trained in several modalities, with specific competency training in working with queer and transgender individuals, neurodivergence, disability, and those with complex or developmental PTSD (including the foster care system) as well as caregivers working to overcome the effects of such trauma. I also have training in play therapy and several body-based perspectives, including polyvagal theory and MNRI. I operate from a strengths-based, harm reduction approach with the assumption that you are the expert on your situation.

Specific modality training:

Play Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT)
Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Payment options include some forms of Missouri Medicaid (MO HealthNet and Home State Health) or private pay at a rate of $120 per hour. If opting for Medicaid, I'll verify coverage by checking your ID card number before our session.
I also provide referral letters for medical transition surgeries. Typically, a single session is conducted for the letter, and there's no charge for the session or letter. I follow an informed consent model, believing individuals are best equipped to make decisions about their medical needs in collaboration with a medical provider. Clients seeking these services usually have a good understanding of the risks, benefits, and alternatives of their chosen procedure before reaching out. If you need more assistance in determining the right transition path, please inform me before scheduling.
